Nah, he never made me cry like a little girl like Aguero did. Just laugh and occasionally throw things at the TV in a rage.
Ringo Goater might work.

A lot of musicians I love (weller, for one, and gord downie from the tragically hip for two), love and have covered 'so sad about us'...but it leaves me cold.

10 years ago tonight, Uncle Benny. The time does fly. Still the best 10 hours I've ever spent at a show. Minus Los Lonely Boys of course. Ha!

It's on one of the crappy 70s albums (rotogravure? Ringo the 4th? One of them, anyway.) And then he re-did it on his last album, for some reason. You aren't missing anything.
Other highlight was the cripes-y old guy beside me who yelled out "ASSHOLE" when ritchie did his "what's mah name?" thing, and "LAME! THAT WAS LAME" after his new song. Don't think he's a fan.

Saw Ringo on the weekend. He was very...Ringo-y. The All-Starr band's stars barely even qualify under that name. Still...it was ringo.
Songs ringo sang:
Matchbox It don't come easy Wings Boys Don't pass me by (!) Yellow submarine Honey don't anthem I wanna be your man Photograph Act naturally With a little help from my friends

I bought a turntable a few years ago, and thought I'd tracked down all of the fab albums, until I remembered the other day I didn't have 'the beatles story'...listening to it now.
This is actually a thing people bought? Good lord. "John formed a group called the 'quairie men'? WTF?

I don't think I heard the BBC album until 98 or 99. I certainly didn't get it when it came out, because it came out a year or so before my beatlenerd brain kicked in...pretty much when they showed the anthology on TV. (in late 1995?) The first albums I bought, aside from Pepper and the blue album, which my dad already had, was the 1st anthology set and the red album, and then everything kind of exploded from there.
I don't even think I've listened to it more than 3 times in my life...except for the 'beatles intro' or whatever it was called, that I used as the intro for all of my beatle mixtapes for years..."I'm John, and I *too* play the guitar. And sometimes, I play the fool!"

Saw Paulie on his "new" tour a few weeks ago...it was fab-oo as always, and it was great to see some of the chestnuts he pulled out of the vault like 'all together now', 'lovely rita' and 'your mother should know' (and hi hi hi and mull of kintyre for those of us who love wings), but...he also did Mr. Kite. Which is fine, since he's been doing john songs for a while now, but now he's claiming he co-wrote it. Is this a new thing? Can he just get away with saying he cowrote everything now? This bothers me probably more than it should.

It *was* nice of him to try, though. And he even changed a verse to throw some Toronto references in, too. Somethingsomethingsomething over at Massey Hall.

The old man brought out tweedy and MMJ guy at the show I saw on monday night and they did a song called 'twelve gates to the city'. Which none of us knew. Which of course meant that was the first time (ever?) that boby decided to try for a crowd singalong, which went as well as could be expected. We sang the chorus as follows:
Oh, what a beautiful city! OH what a BEAUTIFUL city! Oh what a beautiful city (crickets....people looking around in confusion...) ....lujah!
Oh, Boby.

It's not quite bagel's site, but... www.setlist.fm/setlists/the-who-bd6bd2a.htmlSeeing the almighty Quad twice in a few weeks, in ottawa and montreal. Really looking forward to it. But a nice little 'substitute' in the encore would be gladly accepted as well.

Usually a song from a new LP is time for a pee break when you're seeing old sixties guys in concert. Or in the case of one of Neil's songs (who I saw the other week), a pee break, a beer break, a cigarette if you're into that sort of thing, a visit to the merch stand, a 2nd beer, and you'll STILL get the last 4 minutes of the song. 22 minutes of new Neil in one song. Wow. (And then another new one a few songs was 16 minutes. High comedy.) Tbf, they were actually both reasonably decent tunes, and it was worth it to see the "CINNAMON GIRL, WOOOO!" brigade get frustrated and leave.

Any of you asshats know where one could illegally procure the lost lennon tapes? I'm told there's a version of him singing "honey don't" that I've never heard.

That's fucking nonsense. Anyone who can nearly get Ipswich relegated to the 3rd tier has clearly done SOMEthing incredible.
(He also made Mick McCarthy look like an utter buffoon, which is a trait I find quite endearing in anyone...of course that wasn't as a manager, but still...)
