For those who don't follow Bob's antics very closely anymore...his new guitarist as of this spring, Duke Robillard, apparently quit after being mistreated by Bob onstage. Central to the discussion of this topic, most of which can be found here: expectingrain.com/discussions/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=76228...is some footage from the first show of the year, April 5th in Buffalo. I attended this show, watched it from the rail, and the incident in question was indeed a rather severe dressing-down. And I've seen a few bad ones. The beginning of the end came when Duke made a post on his facebook page about selling his "slightly used" Dylan collection.

Yeah, he's got a nice classic, 60s sounding tone. I bet he could've done Love Minus Zero justice.

i'd call that a half-assed tribute. he couldn't even be bothered memorising all the words. was poke's point that the intro was a bit too schmalzy? his voice is completely fucked, sounds like he has emphysema.

Sorry bout the 'tarded link. manho, I don't think the performance is anything special, but the intro certainly is. Someone pee in your cornflakes this morning?

sorry about that, i misread the tone of your post. i forgot that when americans say "you stinkin' ball of shite" they mean "hey, you're cute".
anyway, i wasn't particularly offended by either the song or the intro.
i don't eat cornflakes for breakfast, i have a piece of fruit, coffee, water and bread and marmalade.

he's right to stick to songs with simple harmonic movement like this one, it works.
it looks like that guitar player was stealing too much of the limelight from bobby's plodding piano
in other elder guys from the 60s news, the beach boys used autotune on their 50th live dvd, maybe Brian Wilson could produce the next boby record ?

("mate") PS) boby payed another cover last night, Vincent Black Lightning 52 by fellow Americanaramian Richard Thompson. No recording yet tho.

The old man brought out tweedy and MMJ guy at the show I saw on monday night and they did a song called 'twelve gates to the city'. Which none of us knew. Which of course meant that was the first time (ever?) that boby decided to try for a crowd singalong, which went as well as could be expected. We sang the chorus as follows:
Oh, what a beautiful city! OH what a BEAUTIFUL city! Oh what a beautiful city (crickets....people looking around in confusion...) ....lujah!
Oh, Boby.

It *was* nice of him to try, though. And he even changed a verse to throw some Toronto references in, too. Somethingsomethingsomething over at Massey Hall.
