Youtube doesn't have Old Smokey Locomotion by Little Eva, but it does have this cover of it which hit #1 in Quebec in 1965: Donald Lautrec - Loins de ma campagne www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mn1XDiLzWfgAnd as as long as I'm posting some cheesy Quebec rock from the early 60s, this one can't be ignored: Cesar et ses Romains - Splish Splash www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKfVm7-kL2kAnd of course there were these guys: Les Baronets - C'est le Freddy www.youtube.com/watch?v=--WuAUDybLMThe name of the dork on the left is Rene Angelil, who went on to become the husband/manager of Celine Dion. So his crimes against music were just beginning . . .

It's too bad, but Youtube doesn't have the first Beatles song to enter the U.S. charts, which was Del Shannon's cover of From Me To You. It also doesn't have Brenda Lee's My Whole World Is Falling Down, but here's a non-English cover of it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqb0E_RRxII

Surf City--Favorable census figures in that municipality.
Chris Kenner--Land of 1000 Dances--This guy made 2 big splashes on pop culture with 'I Like It Like That' being the other one. He was a New Orleans guy helped out by the ubiquitous Allen Toussaint. Wiki says: 'In 1968 Kenner was convicted of statutory rape of a minor, and spent three years in Louisiana's Angola prison. Never a compelling live performer, profligate with the considerable money he earned from his songwriting, and given to drink, Kenner never again equalled his early successes.'

just checked out those sylvie vids.
the great thing about being a man in france is that you can look like, and have the personality of, louie out of taxi and still get a very young and cute girl. what that says about the brains of the french girls, tho, i don't want to think about too much.

If Jerry Lee had taken Myra on tour to France instead of England, his sales would have gone up. It's probably not a good idea to think about that too much either . . .
