He's been flogging that story since I've been seeing him live (since 2004), so one would figure if you say something often enough, it will be believed.

Also, Mrs. Vandebilt was briefly the ruler of Cote d'Ivoire for a time in the late 50s.

Caught the old man's show last night in the middle of buttfucknowhere, NY. Decent start, brutal middle, decent end. Some cute little vocal moments, some unforgivably awful moments, and some laugh-out loud funny bits. And that was just desolation row. (seriously.)
2 first-time songs for me, which is saying something these days. (And another one off the new album, which I don't count.)
Weller in NYC last week was miles better.

In today's not shocking news: the single from Liam's "new" band (aka everyone in oasis not named Noel) is terrible.

Just starting to dive into the mono box now (SK, always on top of the latest trends). I'm fascinated by the fact that not only are the mixes occasionally different, but they seem to have used entirely different takes. (i.e. John's vocal on Help!) Crazy. Now I actually have to start all over again. What a tough life I have.

I remember Carl--he was intense. Carl Yang? "My art has appeared on forums dedicated to Bob Dylan.... Dave Matthews Band, and Van Halen."What a whore. SK--it looks like your Braves rallied one out tonight....sneaky buttholes. Didn't we have a memorial to Carl Wang Yang somewhere? Zillaland?

Should I send him this way?

Better to just say fuck you and be on my way.
I've done all I can here.
Keep repeating the same stupid shit, trying to keep you dumb fucks in line. Fucking stupid.
You people are fucking stupid, and I'm fucking stupid if I sit here on this forum pretending like I have to be a part of it.
You all can go suck my rock star dick if you know what I mean.
I make Wintersox art, not you. In fact, some of you are amateurs at drawing and think you have a right to talk shit. It's a non argument and not worth my time. I love myself more than having to explain for the 19th time why my great art is better than your drawings and rascal behavior.
You wouldn't talk that way to Neil Young, you'd be a Dead Man.

Any of you veterans of the original island remember when a weird little "poet" named sox24 (or something to that effect) popped up out of nowhere and infested the place for weeks on end?
I had completely forgotten about it until tonight when I was reading a thread on an oasis forum (or what used to be an oasis forum...it's turned into the oasis version of this place) and realized the guy named 'wintersox', who has been pulling the same stunt for months was probably one and the same, because of this:
"My art has appeared on forums dedicated to Bob Dylan, Nirvana, Leonard Cohen, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Peter Gabriel, Phish, Mushrooms, Dave Matthews Band, and Van Halen."
High comedy. He's like the plague, coming after one band at a time.

The annotated Paulie from the other night in Montreal.
1. Venus & Mars/Rock show/Jet
Fantastic. Always been a favourite of mine, and to get to see it live...lovely.
2. All my loving
Very nice.
3. Letting go
Massive. This band can really wail on the Wings tunes.
4. Drive my car
Meh. It's like watchtower with the old man, it's always there and it's always decent.
5. Highway
New song! Aaaaaaah. Not terrible, but it's nothing special.
6. Let me roll it
Love this one, but the 'foxey lady' bit at the end is played out. We get it, Paul...you can play the guitar, too.
7. The long and winding road
I really don't like this song
8. 1985
I really love this song. And it may well have been the highlight of the show.
9. Let 'em in
Meh.
10. My love
Meh dedicated to Linder
11. I've just seen a face
Splendid
12. And I love her
Never really dug this song until tonight. Great little ditty.
13. Blackbird
Yeah, same story as ever. Nice.
14. Here today
First John shout-out. Crowd gave him a standing O. He's dead, I don't think he noticed.
15. Dance tonight
One of his better latter day tunes.
16. Michelle
OF COURSE he played Michelle in french land. You could see it coming from a mile away. Odd note, the screens had images of France. Quebec isn't France.
17. Mrs. Vanderbilt
Nice the first time. The 2nd time...meh.
18. Ram on
He brought out the ukelele for what I assumed was 'something', and started noodling on it, and suddenly started singing 'ram on', and then the band joined in for the full version. Fantastic.
19. Something
Hit me much more than the other 2 times I saw him do it.
20. Sing the changes
New song! Aaaaaaaaaah. They screwed up the intro and stopped, and I hoped they'd skip it. Alas no. We got it twice.
21. Band on the run
I spent most of my time fiddling with my blackberry. Eh.
22. Ob-la-di, ob-la-da
Yeah, it sucks. I don't care, this was fun.
23. Back in the USSR
Great as always
24. I've got a feeling
Great as always. The extended coda was terrible as always
25. Paperback writer
This was the song I was most excited to see on the setlist. It wasn't good. Bah. PUT THE F***ING GUITAR DOWN, PAUL.
26. A day in the life/give peace a chance
One of many moments I thought "this was better in Quebec City, in a field with 250,000 other people." Still good, though.
27. Let it be
Same thing here. Nice, but the moment he sang this in quebec city, with tens of thousands of cellphones and other lights flickering in the distance was one of those rare moments in my life where I had my breath taken away. Hard to top.
28. Live and let die
Man, those fireworks are loud indoors. (Plus quebec city had *real* fireworks.)
29. Hey jude
Great as always.
---
30. Day tripper
FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANTASTIC.
31. Lady Madonna
Paul's 'stuck inside of mobile'. Just shrug and move onto the next song.
32. Get back
Always a highlight.
---
33. Yesterday
Always a highlight
34. Helter skelter
Massive. Love it.
Here, he brought some girl up on stage and signed her arm so she could get it tattooed. Stupid girl.
35. Sgt. Pepper (reprise)/The end
Still the perfect way to end a show.
Summary:
He was on fire, and he looked right at me.

Ahh...there's your first mistake: the song lyrics don't reference the fact that it is indeed a song.
This one's called 'mind games'...
I sang a song about the time you came along Sheeeeeeeining bright Like one of them flashing lights I'm number one Just like the number 1 Lookin' through a glass on-eeeeee-oun.... Feelin' frustraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa-shee-oun.

that was a cracker ! had another chuckle to myself in the shower last night thinking of liam and gem writing songs together for the next few albums.... "get noel on the phone ! " This one's called "Away in the sky!" “A song I wrote, while I was on a boat Look at me. I’m as great as I can be. Rock’n roll, Fuck you Noel C’mon yeah and sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee-ine.”

What's better on headphones? I've been listening to the stereo versions of walrus and strawberry fields on repeat all day (as teasers for my chronological hoedown tomorrow), and they sound kind of bizarre, but I'm not sure if that's because I'm not used to the separation, or because I should listen in mono.

I just downloaded the mono box, so that should do me. I'm not dropping $200 on the stereo box and then another $250 on the mono one. I need to save my money for the oasis anthology in 10 years.

Oh wait, I'm sorry. That's one of fifty ways to leave your BROTHER. Carry on.
