to be fair to brian he really milked the lennon / mccartney cash cow for every song they had. strange that he never signed rory storm. according to "shout" lennon and macca stopped lee curtis from being signed coz of his good looks.

best venue in town. saw my first classical music concerts there with the school when i was about 11, then many artists from the folk-a-rock-a-boom and one or two heavier things too (t-rex, the nice, family come to mind). you often saw the performers having a pint in the philharmonic pub opposite before the concert. would have been great to be there last night. playing catch the wind, doesn't get much cooler than that: tinyurl.com/825gqoh

courtesy of gerry fleming: Dublin Street showing the old Bonded Warehouse...then and now. Checkout the windows on each block... the steps between George and John are still there today as in the old photo. as are the sunken below street level cellar windows.. The shadow on the wall in the photo with The Beatles on it is coming over the roof of what was The Brown Cow pub that is now The Atlantic Cafe in the 2012 'Now' photo.....those old Beatles photos were taken on the wasteland on Dublin Street, I think this collage confirms it.. This is Dublin Street today 2012.. Thats the same warehouse in the George Harrison photo below.. the units on the left were a wasteland and the George Harrison photo was taken on the wasteland, and thats the same warehouse...I was born in the premises the top of Dublin Street on the right in what was The Brown Cow pub....The Bob Dylan doorway where he sat and had his photo taken with Liverpool kids is still there to the right of the larger white van right of photo up Dublin Street... Thats Dublin Street in the background showing the chimneys at the Clarence Dock power station....so The Beatles got there before Bob Dylan by the looks of it ....Dublin Street is the 'Bob Dylan Street' in Liverpool, its where Dylan had his photo taken with Liverpool kids in 1966.....I was born on Dublin Street in a pub called The Brown Cow which is just out of view in the photo, its still there today but is now a cafe.. I would have lived in the pub when this photo was taken, Dublin Street area was my playground as a child... its now my playground as a Liverpool photographer.... just checked with gerry - brown cow pub is on the left of this pic

Gary Popper :
For those who don't know, Bill [Harry] is my Associate Producer on said new film documentary about Liverpool's incredible music legacy. Covering over 60 years of great music from the city, it knocks on the head all of the old myths about the Golden Era of 'Merseybeat' and much more. From it's early days as the "Nashville of the North" right up to the present day musicians, the film is packed with first hand eye witness interviews, new, rare or exclusive photos, memorabilia, film footage and special music performances. And yes, Beatles!
It also trashes forever the London media mafia's attempts to airbrush Liverpool and Merseyside out of it's richly deserved status as Britain's foremost musical city. Incredible to think it's produced more musicians and chart hits than any other place in the world - and still banging them out even now. So much for Swinging London! What was that about? Carnaby St fashion. The End.
So, guys, look out for the film's worldwide release later this year. And if you are in Liverpool for the August Mathew Street festival, maybe you can get in to see the premier being hosted there. Enjoy!
