"“We are writing to the group to say the ban has been lifted and they are welcome to play here again."
a spokesman for the stones said "the group are ecstatic at this news"

the crunchy nut ad is also using a brilliant song - four seasons stay.
like, if you wanna sell product, you have to go back to the 60's for good music that will keep people's attention focused on the ad. these advertising guys should be running the fucking radio stations.

i had this album in 1966: it had great versions of i've been loving you too long, paint it black, i'm free, and it also had these two songs (both of which i also had as 45s. i vaguely remember buying ride on baby just for the b-side): www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJ2vrXfbqwwwww.youtube.com/watch?v=GNyAzuB1-rEyou can hear mick in the background. he produced it all, too (with andrew, of course, who also got a writing credit for one song).

Go to itunes and check out the Stones - Shine A Light disc. I'm not sure about the live album as a whole, but I downloaded the Keith song You Got The Silver. It's a very good version, and I never get hyped about any new Stones releases.

I liked the movie. The Stones are fun to watch and Scorsese did a good job keeping the film moving, while being smart enough to break up the songs with old clips and some interviews.
I had a few problems with it though. Why the guests, and why those guests? They were fine, even Christina Aguilera, but I'd have been happy enough with just the Stones. Also, I saw it in IMAX and . . . Mick and Keef and Ronnie look bad enough already, closeups of their faces on an IMAX screen brings it to a level usually found only in Tim Burton movies. And a closeup of Mick and Christina Aguilera sharing a mike was mildly disturbing.
In terms of the music, the Stones put on a pretty good show and I expect the album will stand up well just to listen to. But are these guys even half as good as the band that recorded Get Yer Ya Yas Out? No, not really.
One other thing I noticed. In general, the girls on the rail of a Stones show sure are easier on the eyes than at a Bob show . . .

the girls on the rail dont even know who those people on stage were
the guests.. well, in the last 15 years the stones have had about everybody on stage, from bob dylan to sheryl crow, they couldnt use the same people, so they were left with that aguilera bitch
the close up on buddy guy face is worthwhile the entire film -
to ask if they are the same band that recorded Ya ya is like to ask if 2008 bob dylan is the same 1966 bob dylan - useless, but there are lot of great moments of music in this film and cd

Every Stones tour (except '73) been accompanied by some sort of film.
Every fucking one. This is their second IMAX project.

I've got every stones live album...this isn't even as good as stripped. I did like You got the silver and the Jack White duet, though.

I think they do it to take peoples attention away from Mick for a little bit. This way when the annoying guest leaves Mick looks better. Plus Mick doesn't have what it takes to hold your attention for a whole show like he used to.
