I saw that Youssou guy do Chimes of Freedom at one of those Amnesty shows....maybe it was an 'all star' group rendition.
All I remember is that I liked the way he sang 'condemned to dreeft--or else be kept from dreefting'.

the lyrics on chimes really are the sewers of dylan's writing career.

Here's an interesting thing I just downloaded: U.S. Department Of Health, "V.D.Blues", written and directed by Alan LomaxWoody Guthrie as "Rusty, The Traveler" (with Pete Seeger, banjo, unknown piano) includes: The Great Historical Bum (with V.D. lyrics); unidentified song; Hard Times In That ? Jail; unidentified song ("Empty Boxcar Is My Home" ?); The Great Historical Bum (with V. D. lyrics; Reprise) Exact date unknown, 194x (prob. 1944-'45) Woody sounds just like Hank Hill.

that rusty the traveler stuff is great. sounds dated now but think about it, probably syphillis was the equivalent of aids back then. and how many musicians were doing public service ads informing people about aids?

of course, that gaston dino song isn't a dylan cover. as boby didn't write the music and the words are completely different it's actually a song written by whover wrote it (probably gaston dino).

Yes, but he's not a "folk process" guy. Bob gets his name on the album and his cheque in the mail . . .
