Ha! Jurors in the Phil Spector trial have been unable to reach a verdict, the jury foreman said today in court. The 12-member panel is deadlocked at 7 to 5, but it is not known which side has the majority vote. Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler asked the foreman if there was anything he could do to help, but foreman said "At this time I don't believe that anything else will change the positions of the jurors," When the jurors were asked individually the same question, some said that nothing else would change their position, some said further instructions might help, and one said further information about reasonable doubt might help. The panel were then sent back to the jury room to talk to lawyers. After the deadlock was discussed, Spector's defense team asked for a mistrial but it was denied because three of the jury said further instructions might help the impasse. Spector, a famed music producer, is accused of shooting actress Lana Clarkson in the mouth in February 2003 at his Alhambra, CA mansion. His lawyers are saying she shot herself in an accidental suicide. It is believed he shares a keen interest in producing the next Oasis record to revive his struggling career. --By our New York staff. As it turns out, it doesn't matter. Us Canucks get hosed again, and have to wait another week. Meaning oasis, Dylan and the Beatles are all releasing DVDs on the same day.
Is this heaven?

Or like if you go see Paul Weller and he plays down in the tube station at midnight for the first time in 25 years, but gets the cunt out of hard-fi to sing it.
Oh wait...that actually happened. Never mind.

I'm with Steve on this one. The Stripes are one of the best bands of this decade. Do they ape a bunch of oldies? Sure. But so does Noel G. They take an old style and update it for us young kids. You old people can go listen to stairway to heaven again. I'll take seven nation army.

I'm sure I've asked this before, but could someone explain the british caste system and how it is reflected in newspaper readership? (I.e. the guardian comment above and the weller line "you want to read the sun, but the times is right for you.")
Thank you, Non British entity.
