Pee Wee King & the Golden West Cowboys - Slow Poke
That video is a real treat.
i suppose, the passable cover of Lerner & Loewe's They Call the Wind Maria
I can't quite put my finger on why Vaughn Monroe always sounds a little hinky to me.

Speaking of being a pal of Dorothy Kilgallen . . .
I love 'What's My Line?'--extra points for Ozzie 'Badass' Nelson content in the second link.

I'm a big What's My Line fan too. They sure don't make 'em like that anymore.
December 29, 1951
#1 this week: Eddy Howard - Sin
No chart debuts this week. It was a pretty decent year though, with It's All In the Game, How High the Moon, Too Young, Unforgettable, Gone Fishin', I Get Ideas, A Kiss to Build a Dream On, Mockin' Bird Hill, In the Cool Cool Cool of the Evening, Cry, Slow Poke, Hot Rod Race, If, My Resistance Is Low, We Kiss in a Shadow, You and Your Beautiful Eyes, Because of You, Shot Gun Boogie, Blackstrap Molasses, Pretty Eyed Baby, The Three Bells and, of course, Rose, Rose, I Love You. That's the start of a pretty good compilation tape . . .

1950 r&b (part 3, audio only unless*) 21. Ruth Brown - Teardrops from My Eyes* www.youtube.com/watch?v=xr8n50KDQQs22. Roy Brown - Love Don't Love Nobody www.youtube.com/watch?v=mr6yJIqtvBE23. Fats Domino - The Fat Man www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICq9lEqj4cIwww.youtube.com/watch?v=aIz1cPfTRW424. Charles Brown - My Baby's Gone Not on YouTube 25. Roy Milton - Information Blues Not on YouTube 26. Herb Fisher - I'm Yours To Keep Not on YouTube 27. Dinah Washington - It Isn't Fair www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLIMSmrTXZY28. Larry Darnell - I'll Get Along Somehow Not on YouTube 29. Amos Milburn - Bad, Bad Whiskey* www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDPPvsErNQY30. Johnny Otis and Little Esther with Mel Walker - Deceivin' Blues Not on YouTube Interesting R&B Top 30. No white folks here, of course, but only Nat King Cole and Dinah Washington crossed over to the pop charts. And while Mona Lisa was a big enough R&b hit to be #10 for the year, it was an even bigger pop hit. Also, it's interesting that pop hitmakers Louis Armstrong, Sarah Vaughan and Billy Eckstine don't make this list. The other thing about these singles is that all of them are at least as good as the very best of the pop hits.

Louis Jordan - Saturday Night Fish Fry*
Wow--never saw Louie Jordan in color. Looks like the set of The Mike Douglas Show.
