don't get me wrong, i've been reading and enjoying bukowski for 35 years but it's ridiculous to imply he's in the same league as ginsberg. and dan bern is just mediocre. a nice night out at the local club, but nothing more.

i saw the animals and the nashville teens on this tour (liverpool odeon, same venue as boby66) but i have no recollection of any of the artists on the bill apart from the animals and the teens.

Berns albums are good not great. But solo live he is very funny, imo. And Bukowski is not as good as Ginsberg.

wasn't much fun really. the animals were terrible. the started playing without eric burden who sort of wandered on in the middle of the first song, obviously drunk. it was a mess.
the nashville teens were much more professional.
eric burden was by far my favourite singer of the time. after john, of course.

Dino, I always thought of Dan as a Cat Stevens/Donovan imitator.

The original Pogues then? Nashville Teens are the ones backing Jerry Lee on that Hamburg record, right? Thats one of the best live albums ever.

albarn nails it
Albarn vs "X-Factor"
(Friday December 28, 2007 12:49 AM) Damon Albarn has launched a scathing attack on celebrity culture, calling for shows such as "X-Factor" to be scrapped.
The Blur and Gorillaz star was the guest presenter on BBC Radio 4's "Today" programme yesterday, taking the opportunity to express his views.
He called for a radical new approach to the 21sc century version of fame and proposing we "get rid of 99% of the media".
Speaking of the popularisation of talent shows such as "X-Factor" in recent years, Damon Albarn was particularly outspoken.
"It's creating a mindset that suggests you can get something for nothing and that it's easy to acquire status and fame. It should be one of the hardest things to do.
"We need to dismantle very significant parts of our culture and really re-examine them. I suppose you start with the celebrity thing", he explained.
"There's just so many things I would alter. I think for a start you have to get rid of things like the 'X-Factor' immediately", Albarn commented.

Oh for fuck's sake...because twatboy is so much better than pop music. Jesus christ, that man thinks highly of himself, doesn't he? Go back to being a cartoon, cunt.
No, I don't like him very much. Why do you ask?

"'Stay' is one of the shortest ever pop hits clocking in at 1:38.
Take heed all you songsters. Get to the point, get to the hook and get the fuck out of there.
Stop wasting people's time"
quiz: what was the first single promoted for its length?

(waves flag) Yea for us!
I think every kid who got a guitar back then had to learn that riff....I guess it's an arpeggio....it's not really a riff. Once one was past the 'Louie Louie' level it was on to 'House of...'.
