I'm not sure, but I think the moral of the story is it's best to shoot blanks.

Spector in 'sensitive needs' area of Calif. prison
LINDA DEUTSCH The Associated Press
LOS ANGELES - Music legend Phil Spector has been assigned to a "sensitive needs facility" in California's largest state prison to serve his sentence for murdering an actress.
Spector was taken Monday to the California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison at Corcoran, where 6,919 other inmates are housed, corrections spokeswoman Terry Thornton said.
She said Spector was assigned to the sensitive needs facility rather than general population. He doesn't have a cellmate.
As a medium security inmate, Spector can make some requests for items he wants in his cell, and his wife acknowledges her husband is already creating a list.
"He wants a TV and an iPod or something like that for listening to music," Rachelle Spector said Tuesday. "And he would like to be able to receive e-mail."
Prison Lt. Stephen Smith said Spector's notoriety probably got him into the sensitive needs facility. He said the typical inmate there needs protection after dropping out of a gang.
Spector, 69, is serving 19 years to life for the fatal shooting of actress Lana Clarkson at his castle-like home in Alhambra in 2003. He was convicted of second-degree murder in April after the first trial ended with a mistrial.
Rachelle Spector said she was relieved her husband was out of North Kern State Prison, where he has been undergoing evaluation.
She said he wrote a letter alleging abuse at the prison such as being forced to sleep naked on the floor for two nights and to eat out of a bowl with his hands "like a dog."
Thornton said the prison does not mistreat inmates and the actions described by Rachelle Spector "would be a violation of policies and laws." She said, however, any report of misconduct would be investigated.
The prison near Fresno has housed other entertainment figures. Actor Robert Downey Jr. served time there in 1999 for a probation violation in a drug conviction and wound up counseling other inmates before he was released.

Phil Spector is to launch an appeal against his murder conviction on the grounds of judicial error and prosecutorial misconduct.
The producer is currently serving a 19-years-to-life jail sentence for the murder of actress Lana Clarkson, which he started in 2009. His lawyers now claim that he didn't have a fair trial, reports BBC News.
Spector's appeal was launched on Wednesday (March 10) in Los Angeles, with the lawyers arguing: "None of the... evidence involved events in which Mr Spector put a gun in someone's mouth, much less fired it."
They added that the prosecution in the case improperly asserted that Spector "had a history and propensity of violence against women and thus should be convicted based on his bad character and evil propensities".

Convicted murderer PHIL SPECTOR is hospitalized and near death, The ENQUIRER has learned.
The notorious music producer, 74, was rushed to a medical facility after his already fragile health took a turn for the worse, his attorney said. Spector has been serving 19 years to life since 2009, when he was found guilty of murdering actress Lana Clarkson.
But his attorneys have filed an appeal asking for a review of his murder conviction and, in legal documents filed July 1 and obtained by The ENQUIRER, Spector’s legal team cited his rapidly declining health in asking the court to expedite their review.
“He was taken to the hospital this week. In fact, he was rushed,” Spector’s attorney Charles Sevilla told The ENQUIRER. “It’s bad. He’s in frail health with a host of very serious problems.”
Without detailing Spector’s ailments, Sevilla said his wig-wearing client’s condition has deteriorated since his incarceration at California’s Corcoran State Prison. Spector was in the inmate hospital at the Stockton, Calif., jail when he was taken to another medical facility, said Sevilla.
“They don’t rush you to the hospital when you’re in a prison hospital unless it’s serious,” Sevilla added. “He wasn’t in the best of health going in and, needless to say, it hasn’t gotten better over the years.”
Spector shot to stardom after writing and producing the hit song, “To Know Him Is to Love Him,” at age 18. He later developed his trademark Wall of Sound and dominated the ‘60s charts as a producer. But he turned into a recluse, and high-profile case ended in a mistrial in 2007 when jurors failed to reach a verdict.
Two years later, another jury convicted Spector of second-degree murder and illegally discharging a firearm. An appeal, based on the argument that the trial judge violated Spector’s constitutional rights, was filed with the U.S. Supreme Court.
The appeal was rejected in February 2012. Another appeal was filed months later, and remains pending. Spector “is in frail health with a host of maladies that require care,” said Sevilla. “We want a decision from the court.”
