with a news like this, you really wish that "I hope I'd die before I get old" was true for them a long time ago
Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones has confirmed to BBC Radio Devon that the band will record and tour, without original singer Robert Plant.
John Paul Jones, speaking whilst at a guitar show in Exeter has confirmed that Jimmy Page, John Bonham's son Jason and himself had been trying out new singers since Plant has ruled himself out of performing with the band.
He said: "We are trying out a couple of singers. We want to do it. It's sounding great and we want to get on and get out there."
The bassist also added that they were not looking to simply replace Plant, explaining: "It's got to be right. There's no point in just finding another Robert. You could get that out of a tribute band, but we don't want to be our own tribute band. There would be a record and a tour, but everyone has to be on board."
Recent speculation has suggested that American singer Myles Kennedy could be the new singer, though John Paul Jones did not confirm this.
The last time Plant, Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham played was the one-off reunion show in December 2007, as a tribute to Ahmet Ertegun.
JPJ told the BBC that the show was "very hard work" but "wonderful" and that "The most pleasure is making music. I love listening to it, but nothing as much fun as having an instrument in my hand and communicating with people.

Martin hints at imminent retirement
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin is preparing to retire from music - because he believes rock stars should call it quits before reaching their mid-30s.
Martin is adamant the Yellow hitmakers will step away from the limelight sometime in the next few years - to ensure they are on top of their game when they leave the music industry.
But he insists that until he and his bandmates take their final bow, they will continue to put out as many albums as possible.
He says, "I'm 31 now and I don't think that bands should keep going past 33.
"I don't believe in time off. We've still got most of our hair, we can still fit into our musical trousers and we've got to make the most of that."

... or radiohead for that matter (coldplay were the new radiohead, remember). can't see radiohead stopping. it's what they do. cunts like martin always end up as producers/managers of groups with even less talent than they had. or maybe he'll go into producing movies for his wife (be even funnier if he actually tried to direct one). or maybe he'll open a ceramics shop in st ives.

i think what he's actually saying is that he wont have any more ideas left soon. but you can just see when the divorce goes through in 2015 he'll have to do a comeback tour.

Lanois win:
Along with producer Brian Eno, Daniel Lanois has put his stamp on six U2 albums, starting with 1984's The Unforgettable Fire. Their next collaboration with the band is due early next year, the title rumored to be No Line On The Horizon. In an interview with the Boston Herald, Lanois discussed his history with U2 and how, in his words, they have "reinvented" rock 'n' roll with the upcoming record.
What's U2's new stuff like? "The president of the company is singing better than ever and the tracks are wildly innovative. I would never have thought things would have gone this way. I believe, well, rock 'n' roll has been reinvented one more time

"how much did he get paid for saying that, i wonder?"
well, as he's actually producing the thing i'd say you wouldn't have to pay him anything. it's his career too. nice to see eno on board for the next album. seal of quality.
maybe they can also get chris martin involved in the next project. any suggestions for the bono/martin/eno/lanois album title?

the title has to be something of great measure. a reference to the universe or something. think shakespeare. think aristotle.
what about:
Cogito Ergo Cunt

I dunno what it's like in the rest of the world, but it seems that all the commercial jingles on TV here are sung by women with breathy little girl type voices....usually with a ukulele/home made type accompaniment. New movies too come to think of it. The wife was watching this movie 'Juno' and it was all over the place. Real 'cute/vulnerable' type voices. It's driving me nuts. Who started that shit? It's awful. Please stop.

italiani brava gente:
Taking the genre name way too seriously, according to The Guestlist and various Italian media reports, 19-year-old Italian death metal singer Cristina Balzano has been arrested for stabbing the guitarist in her band Soul Cry after he fluffed a guitar riff.
Balzano allegedly stabbed the 16-year-old guitarist for playing the wrong notes during a rehearsal session after accusing him of "sounding evil."(Isn't that the point?) Balzano has now been charged by Genovese police for attempted murder.
And you thought Mick & Keith, The Davies brothers and the Gallaghers had the worst fights.

Coldplay's record label, EMI / Parlophone, have forced YouTube to take down the original video that mashes-up Coldplay's Viva La Vida and Joe Satriani's If I Could Fly. The video recently became a focal point for music fans debating whether Coldplay had plagiarised Satriani.
