No, I chickened out at the last minute. The thought of 5 or 6 new songs in a row, plus Lola, You Really Got Me parts got the best of me. I didn't want to sit through that shit. Has he ever played Harry Rag all the way though? That would be worth going for, maybe. Nice to see Victoria in there too. I think I would have enjoyed it, but not as much with out the alcohol fuel (seeing it was on a work night for me).

I saw him do a 2 verse or so Harry Rag request a buncha years back, 60 seconds or so.
Anyway, I broke down and got tix for the Philly show this upcoming Saturday. I'm gonna yell out for Everybodys a Star, the one that's been on a Target commercial lately. Nobody here has mentioned this. Soap Opera rules. Maybe Budweiser will buy Have Another Drink for their adverts, I'm not sure.

Not Like Everybody Else opener, fuck-load of special moments (ha!), but Ray brought the goods to Philly. I think he might even have a special pan-sexual love for Philly, he came out for a couple encores and made sure to tell us we were awesome. His band is a bunch of kids, they were good though. Low Budget, Dedicated Follower were encores, new tunes were tuneful and actually good. Nothing from Soap Opera or Preservation, I yelled out for Shepards of the Nation to no avail. Anyway, Ray was in great spirits, sound upstairs wasn't the best, but he put out, I'm very happy with the show.

Actually, looking at the setlist posted, looks close to what we got at the Tower, no Days though.

Thanks for the report Toom. Nice to hear he did Dedicated Follower. That's a little unusual I think.

Yeah, a good night. He had a hard-on for the Day-o business early on, but eased off a bit as the night went on. The crowd was pretty nuts, lots of singing along, finishing lines and that bit, which usually annoys the shit outta me, but I got sucked into the feel-good vibe, I'm so gay.

And New York can suck my dick lately, Beacon Theater tix are almost twice as much $ as the Tower, on a less-cooler-than-Saturday Tuesday night. Same deal for the upcoming King Crimson shows, prolly hit Philly and blow off NYC.

Oh, another thing about the Ray show- no merchandise. In the booth-type area near the door was just a sign, "NO RAY DAVIES MERCH" or something like that. Now the guy has probably sold a few shirts in his day, but I thought that was pretty cool. Dude's a fuckin artist not a salesman. Bravo.

I don't even mind the 'way-o' stuff, cause it's usually followed by a great song...So if that's what it takes I'm down with it.

BBC) The Kinks singer Ray Davies has said the band are "three quarters of the way there" for a possible reunion. "The stumbling block is my brother because he was seriously ill recently and whether he feels ready to do it," he told BBC Radio 4's Front Row.
Guitarist Dave Davies suffered a stroke after collapsing in June 2004. The Kinks, one of the most popular rock bands of the 1960s, scored UK number one hits with You Really Got Me, Tired of Waiting and Sunny Afternoon. -

The Kinks are looking to possibly reunite, and are working on new material together, front man Ray Davies has told BBC News.
The singer says that they have started writing songs but "It depends if there's good music. We want good new music. I'd like to do it as a more collaborative thing than we used to do."
The Kinks last performed in 1996, and are one the only popular bands from the 60s whose founding members are still alive.
Davies has also spoken about making another album, collaborating on duets with other musicians such as Razorlight's Johnny Borrell and Snow Patrol as well as discovering new talent to work with.
Davies said: "I don't just want to do usual suspects. I'd love to do something with Johnny, but I'd like to find new bands. Unsigned even. I usually like the underdogs."
