Jim Morrison would probably be doing whatever the lead singer from Steppenwolf is doing right now.

I see Hendrix ending up like Carlos Santana. Getting religion and making boring records with guys like John McLaughlin.

Maybe Buddy Holly would have become a creepy Paul Anka type....maybe Eddie Cochran would have ended up a fat drunk.

Surf City--Favorable census figures in that municipality.
Chris Kenner--Land of 1000 Dances--This guy made 2 big splashes on pop culture with 'I Like It Like That' being the other one. He was a New Orleans guy helped out by the ubiquitous Allen Toussaint. Wiki says: 'In 1968 Kenner was convicted of statutory rape of a minor, and spent three years in Louisiana's Angola prison. Never a compelling live performer, profligate with the considerable money he earned from his songwriting, and given to drink, Kenner never again equalled his early successes.'

Eh--it's just the novelty once in a lifetime cachet thing.
Hopefully he'll do a few nights at The Warfield here. That's where he played in '93.

Same riff though.
Jesse Stone invented so much stuff...if he ripped anything off, he's entitled....just like boby.

Here's a Down In The Alley from 1930 by the great Frankie 'Half Pint' Jaxon (the original Little Richard). Here's Memphis Minnie doing a song called Down In The Alley but it's a different song.

The sendspace ad that comes with that mp3 says 'Meet thousands of gay singles in your area'.
I wonder if Sendspace targets musical tastes like Amazon does.

The Beatles covered Joe Brown's A Picture of You (which is 2 pages back) on one of their early BBC sessions. George sang lead. Joe Brown and George ended up being neighbors in Henley on Thames and it was Joe Brown who turned George on to George Formby and ukuleles. Joe & George in '92.

Does anyone know who Michael Stipe is endorsing for President this time? I'd really like his input.
Nader's running mate is a local boy--Matt Gonzales. He ran for mayor and came close to winning a few years back. He was like the 'slacker' candidate...you know...plays bass and stuff. He's quoted in the paper as saying 'People need to get past 2000'.
Haw! The Jews need to get past the holocaust too. Even in this town, I think Matt is headed for Pariahville.

Dunno if we have any font guys here. All computers should have default Beatles LP fonts---'Help' font, 'Yesterday & Today' fonts....

Billy Vaughn & His Orchestra - A Swingin' Safari
This Bert Kaempfert link in the Wimoweh/Lion Sleeps Tonight chain is as evocative of early sixties America as it gets. I can smell the barbeque in the backyard with the cocktail glasses clinking as i listen.
