Convicted murderer PHIL SPECTOR is hospitalized and near death, The ENQUIRER has learned.
The notorious music producer, 74, was rushed to a medical facility after his already fragile health took a turn for the worse, his attorney said. Spector has been serving 19 years to life since 2009, when he was found guilty of murdering actress Lana Clarkson.
But his attorneys have filed an appeal asking for a review of his murder conviction and, in legal documents filed July 1 and obtained by The ENQUIRER, Spector’s legal team cited his rapidly declining health in asking the court to expedite their review.
“He was taken to the hospital this week. In fact, he was rushed,” Spector’s attorney Charles Sevilla told The ENQUIRER. “It’s bad. He’s in frail health with a host of very serious problems.”
Without detailing Spector’s ailments, Sevilla said his wig-wearing client’s condition has deteriorated since his incarceration at California’s Corcoran State Prison. Spector was in the inmate hospital at the Stockton, Calif., jail when he was taken to another medical facility, said Sevilla.
“They don’t rush you to the hospital when you’re in a prison hospital unless it’s serious,” Sevilla added. “He wasn’t in the best of health going in and, needless to say, it hasn’t gotten better over the years.”
Spector shot to stardom after writing and producing the hit song, “To Know Him Is to Love Him,” at age 18. He later developed his trademark Wall of Sound and dominated the ‘60s charts as a producer. But he turned into a recluse, and high-profile case ended in a mistrial in 2007 when jurors failed to reach a verdict.
Two years later, another jury convicted Spector of second-degree murder and illegally discharging a firearm. An appeal, based on the argument that the trial judge violated Spector’s constitutional rights, was filed with the U.S. Supreme Court.
The appeal was rejected in February 2012. Another appeal was filed months later, and remains pending. Spector “is in frail health with a host of maladies that require care,” said Sevilla. “We want a decision from the court.”

Saw him twice, in 2008 & 2009, few meters in front of me...
I heard if he looked right at you, your intestines would burst.
Nice touch with the last footage thing.

I liked it ok, since I had low expectations anyway.
I think it really brought home the fact that spawning boby was the only reason that anyone is (or ever was) remotely interested in that whole late fifties/early sixties village scene.

So who's on board for Pono?
It's kinda well known that Neil has lost a lot of his hearing anyway. How can he tell?
I watched the video montage with all the celebrities acting 'blown away' by the sound.
Yeah, like rock stars never lie to us.

I took the above photo a few years back when I was driving through Sacramento. The middle of this pic is the exact place I was when I saw The Beatles on Ed Sullivan. From 1961 to 1965 our family lived on the grounds of a youth correctional facility where my father worked. It all got torn down not long ago, but I snuck past the chain link fence that now surrounds the property and found the foundation of our old house. On the right you can see the base of our fireplace. I had never heard or heard of The Beatles before I saw them on the Sullivan show. They just appeared out of nowhere it seemed. It was a true flashpoint that fucked with my vulnerable 6 six year old mind in a profound way.

R. Crumb on Pete Seeger:
Seeger… he's a saint. Pete Seeger's a fucking saint, but I never found his music very interesting. You know, musically he can play the banjo, but he's so political, so deeply, vehemently political — and I agree with his politics completely — but it made his music political; the message was more important than the quality of the music to him. He's a literary musician, you know? But he dedicated himself to getting out there an playing these left-wing, rousing songs to labor unions and strikers, it's amazing they never put him in jail. Well, actually, I think he was in trouble for a while but he never went to jail. Is he still alive? I think he is. I think he's still going! I know someone who recently talked to him and I guess Seeger is very inspirational. He's still very lucid and he talked about the old days. You know, he started all that political campaigning in the '30s, and he started very young with that. He's from an upper-class family with money. I think it was the Seeger family whose maid was Elizabeth Cotton, and one day they found her playing guitar and singing and they went, "Oh my God! This woman is a talented singer/musician!" Somebody, years ago, gave me, as a gift, a huge box set of ten LPs of all of that left-wing folk music done by the folknics, not by the real folk, but the folknics of the '50s and early '60s: the Almanac Singers; Joan Baez and Pete Seeger. It's just totally uninteresting. Real country hillbilly music by deeply ignorant, racist people is much more interesting than that stuff. As I said, I agree totally with their politics, but musically it's really uninteresting. The whole folknic scene, even when it was happening in the late '50s and early '60s, I was never moved by it. I preferred rockabilly. [laughs]
Thanks for bringing the wimoweh, Petey.
