It can't be possible to recreate the greatness of the Kinks is it? Playing the old songs is one thing, but a new record? I just don't see it being any good, plus they'd probably start fighting again since they've all had their own ways for so long now. I'd rather they just toured, who cares if it's just nostalgia, it's still better than say a Steel Wheels type of album.

the humour is gone out of ray's writing and getting back with the others isnt gonna help that problem

Dave says here: "To sit in a room or studio with him and have my brain and heart slowly sucked out ... no friggin thank you...I wrote a song called Where pigs fly ' Ray wrote 10 songs out of it....one of them was Hatred, one was LOLA and the other eight were You Really Got Me. ??Ray has been doing Karaoke Kinks shows since 1996...It would be like a poor remake of 'Night of the Livin Dead'..... There is nothing wrong with the old songs or new songs that we have both been writing on our own; but not more torture Please. no more Hannabal lectur.aah!?the swan song Ray and Dave tour should be called the Kinks are 'The Fractured Mindz preservation Society'. ?'Preserve in Peace....I wouldn't mind or rather consider doing some shows with Ray purely in respect for the Great body of work we have both been fortunate to have been involved in over the years. And for the fans of course...I saw Dave on TV recently...one of those VH1 things. He looked ok, but his speech was a little stroke-y like. Zilla is right tho....there are so many bad things about a Kinks reunion....big halls full of looky-loos, expensive 'once in a lifetime event' tickets, and having to sit through shitty new songs....and I'll have to be there. My wife just told me that The Kinks are now her all time favorite group.

Way to go o!
I wasn't able to find my way around that dumbo place.
Dave's right--fuck making a stoopid new record. Go out, play the old songs and that'll do nicely.
Silly cunts.

I see that Ray is doing another tour...Australia, SF, LA, Chicago, Toronto, NY...y'know--all the cool places....I'm inclined to give this a miss.

Pre-sale tomorrow here for April 8. I'm gonna see if I can get any. Actually, the Philly show is on a Saturday, instead of NY on a Tuesday, that may work out better.

Presale is bullshit, best tix were a couple of rows from the back on the floor, $100+, so I searched for cheaper ones, figuring I might get lower balcony, no way, last row of the joint. I'll try for Philly tomorrow.
If I do get tix, I guess I gotta go out and buy the album, damn.

Come on Toom...Haven't you ever heard Cripes say to just walk up to the venue night of the show and get your tickets from either the venue or scalper? I've tried that 3 times and each time it was better seats than I've ever got online and it was at face value.

Yeah, the good thing about liking these old bands is that you figure at least a couple of old fuckers with tickets will kick the bucket between now and the show, I'll be doing some widow a favor by taking that ticket.

Not a bad set list. I just bought his last album and felt miserable. But I might have to think about going if he stays with that list.

ray was so deadpan that he wrote "where have all the good times gone" before they'd actually arrived.
